A sad incident happened. It is heart-breaking and the incident has been called every parent's nightmare. Our hearts and prayers go out to her parents, may she rest in peace. Almost every parent struggles with allowing their children walk to school. Road safety is taught from Yr 4 (Pri 4) and by Yr 5 (Pri 5), most kids are allowed to walk home alone, but this remains the sole discretion and responsibility of the parents to determine if it is safe and appropriate for their kids to walk home. The UK law doesn’t state a minimum age limit for children walking to school alone. While there are many online articles about keeping kids safe when walking home, nothing prepares a parent, child or family for such devastating incident. May God grant the family strength to bear this loss.
