Stumbled across this video on my Youtube Feed and I just let it play, and I am glad I did! It resonated with me....and how I spent this week as kids started the new school year.
The speaker, Laura Vanderkam asks "how do we treat our priorities first?" [Paraphrased]. She talked about strategies for managing time as a professional; when we plan for what is next without stressing about what is missing right now. She also talked about using the same thoughts in our personal lives. I like that it can be applied to parenting; where I can learn to stop stressing about what the kids haven't done now, but plan and schedule that action in the near future. Time management as parents should not be about saving time. It should be about scheduling actions or activities in a flexible manner around our priorities. Listen and see how she talks about using your Friday afternoons in managing our priorities for the upcoming week (we know we are already in TGIF mood😂, but can plan the heavy stuff for the start of next week).
I laughed when she said she was late for her own speech on time management 😂 It just shows that we are human and even the experts are not perfect. As parents, we aim to apply the best practices and pray for our efforts to be crowned with success. 💜
